The
Dalmatian
We are already in love with the Dalmatian Dog and
could write a book about it. We won’t do that but we would like to
introduce you to this wonderful dog breed.
The Dalmatian is a lively and enthusiastic dog. They
always want to play a game, in- or outdoors. Also a long walk is
very much appreciated.
Very characteristic is the lively wagging tail that
doesn’t ever seem to tired.
The Dalmatian is athletic and sport-loving. By their build,
enthusiasm and intelligence they are very suitable for several dog
sports for example agility, flyball, hunting and dogfrisbee. On this
Internet site you can read more about the different dog sports that
we play with our Dalmatians.
Dalmatians also have a good endurance and it is
certainly necessary to give physical exercise. A 15 minute walk is
certainly not sufficient.
If a Dalmatian is not exercised enough he can be hyperactive
indoors.
If you sufficiently mentally stimulate your dog with games
and sports and exercise him enough (going for walks, taking him with
you on bicycle rides or with the horse) then he is quiet at home and
can play with a toy by himself or lie in his basket! Because of
his need of exercise and company the Dalmatian is certainly not a
dog to leave home alone all day!
The Dalmatian is also a very loving dog! He loves
cuddling. He can crawl onto your lap to have a lovely cuddle. Also
while going for a walk they are very good at making contact with
passersby, preferably getting a pat or a hug and saying thank you
with a big wet kiss (in the face!)
With its particularly beautiful, white shorthaired
fleece with a black or liver-colourful spotting pattern the
Dalmatian is a really beautiful dog. No spotting pattern is the same
and that makes each Dalmatian particularly unique. He loses short,
white hairs all the time so that it is necessary to vacuumclean your
house every day!
